これに対し、応答速度が速く且つ視野角が広い表示モードとして、強誘電性液晶（ＦＬＣ）や、反強誘電性液晶（ＡＦＬＣ）等が知られているが、耐ショック性や温度特性等に大きな欠点を有するため、広く実用化されるまでには至っていない。
