バッファ層２１０は、領域２４０が多結晶で、領域２６０が単結晶であったとしても、この状態では酸化物が露出していないので、上層のフィルム２８０の成長を改善することができる（単結晶面２２０と酸化物面２３０への直接的な成膜に比較して）。

The buffer layer 210 improves the deposition of the overlying film 280 (relative to direct deposition onto the single crystal surface 220 and the oxide surface 230) even though the region 240 is polycrystalline and the region 260 is single crystal, since no oxide is exposed at this stage.
